Walmart Labs India is gearing up for strong hiring despite the corona epidemic. The company will recruit 2800 people this year. Walmart Labs India is Walmart’s flagship technology unit for $524 billion.
The company will provide jobs to around 800 people at its new center in Chennai. It plans to hire 2,000 people at the Bengaluru-based center. The center already has 3,500 people working.
Earlier this year in Chennai, the company leased space of 2,50,000 sq ft from RMZ. It has an opening for data engineers. They will become part of Walmart’s Global Data Organisation (GDO).
GDO is working on machine learning, data science, and visualization platforms. The group is also preparing analytical products for verticals like marketing, finance, supply chain, pricing, customer, and HR.
Sources told Times of India (TOI) that 2,000 people will be placed at the Chennai center in the next two years. Walmart and Amazon are two companies whose shares have been rising amid the corona epidemic. This is because people have moved towards buying more affordable goods. At the same time, they are preferring online shopping.
