Why Should You Install A Dehumidifier In Your Indoor Pool?

Who does not like a house that comes with a pool of its own? A pool is almost synonymous with pleasure and indulgence irrespective of its location, as long as it is within your premises, of course. For outdoor pools, you get all the glorious sunshine and cool breeze, while for indoor pools, you can use them even in the dead of winter for a good warm soak when you cannot possibly go out.

However, maintaining a pool is serious hard work. Both indoor and outdoor pools have different maintenance measures and these need to be taken seriously not only to make sure the pool is usable, but also to ensure your own health. It may seem like indoor pools are easier to handle since there are very less environmental influences, but these come with their own issues, such as excess humidity. This can be detrimental not only to the appearance of the pool but also your health. This is why indoor pools are mostly fitted with dehumidifiers. Read on to know more about the advantages of installing a dehumidifier in you indoor pool.

  1. Ensures health and safety of users.

Pools use chlorine and this does not usually encourage the growth of mold and mildew- but why would you take that chance? There have been many instances of mold growth even in the presence of all the chlorine. No one wants to go to a pool whose surroundings are modly and smelly. There is also a scary chance of ceilings collapsing down due to excess moisture build up. Installing a dehumidifier is certainly not cheap but compared to mold inspections and removals, ceiling replacement, or even visits to the doctor; installation seems like a much more viable solution.

  • Reduced energy expenses.

Indoor pools are usually much more expensive to maintain than outdoor ones and consume a lot of energy, leading to very high energy expenses. Dehumidifiers come with a range of applications and uses. They are designed to maintain a certain temperature. Some models are quite energy efficient and can be used to recover heat from the air and use it to heat the pool. Some units are designed to sense changes in humidity levels, and they can be used to bring fresher air from outside and switch the airflow. Normal ventilation systems in indoor pools can consume a lot of energy and increase expenses, which can easily be sorted out by a dehumidifier.

  • Maintains the interiors.

Excess moisture is never a good thing for any closed or controlled environment. Once this moisture is allowed to accumulate, it can have a number of detrimental consequences- as already mentioned above, mold is one of them- others may include corrosion of metals, rotting of wooden installations, peeling of paint and numerous kinds of structural damage. It is simply water vapour, but it can have very drastic consequences if it not controlled. An indoor pool has a certain kind of appeal to it, and if the interiors around the pool are damaged, that appeal will also automatically get lost. No one would want to walk into a pool surrounding by dingy and moldy fixtures.

Other than these, installing a dehumidifier in an indoor pool setup can increase the overall comfort of residents and users. Pools are meant for relaxing and enjoyment, and people cannot really enjoy if the environment is stuffy and uncomfortable, it makes the whole point behind having an indoor pool quite redundant. A dehumidifier is an investment which will ensure that your pool is safe and all appliances and fixtures surrounding it are in optimum condition.
